PSYC 101 Chapter Notes - Chapter 8: Rote Learning, Prefrontal Cortex, Intelligence Quotient
Document Summary
Chapter 8 (p. 297-322) & chapter 9 (p. 359-361) 5/18/17. Intelligence as numerous processes: remembering, perceiving, attending, comprehending, encoding, associating, generalizing, planning, reasoning, forming concepts, solving problems, etc, more precise specification of the mechanisms involved in intelligent behavior. A proposed solution: reconciling the 3 perspectives on intelligence: three-stratum theory of intelligence: top of the hierarchy is g, middle are the several moderately general abilities, and bottom is many specific processes. Iq scores that people get at different ages are highly correlated. Iq scores as predictors of important outcomes: correlate positively with long-term educational outcomes. If you have the same job, those with higher iq scores tend to perform better, earn more money, and receive better promotions.
