Soci 3250 protest and social movements: wildcat strike played important symbolic role in postwar industrial relations, representing an extra-institutional mechanism that could preserve for workers on shop floor some elements of surprise, spontaneity, Included nationwide strikes of air traffic controllers & bus drivers, militant regional conflagrations, & groups of local companies: these counterstrikes for two decades punctuated industrial landscape with struggles for union survival.
