Memory contents are lost when the power is removed (volatile) Rom read only memory: contents of this memory are programmed one time when manufactured, memory contents persist when the power is removed (nonvolatile) Prom programmable read only memory: memory with similar traits as rom but can be programmed by the user. Eprom erasable programmable read only memory: could be erased by exposing it to uv light. Otp eprom one-time programmable eprom: cannot be erased after programmed.
