Milestones of motor development in the first 2 years. 1 stepping re ex, lifts head slightly holds objects if placed in hand. 2-3 lifts head up 90 degrees when lying on stomach begins to swipe at object in sight. 4-6 rolls over, sits w/ support, moves on hands/ knees reaches for/ grabs objects. 10-12 pulls self up, walks grasping furniture; walks alone, squats/ stoops, plays pat-a-cake transfers object from hand to hand shows some signs of hand preference. 13-18 walk backwards, sideways, runs, rolls ball to adult, claps stacks 2 blocks, puts object in small container/ dumps them out. 19-24 walks up and down stairs, 2 feet per step; jump with both feet off ground uses spoon to feel self; stacks. Developing body systems: changes in bone density > improves coordination, ossification- process of bones hardening.
