Operaing system: collecion of programs that control the hardware (ios, linux, windows) Applicaions: range of end-user programs (apps, oice) manage a business with. Designed to give programmers a common set of commands to interact with the hardware. Embedded systems: special purpose sotware designed and included inside physical objects, oten in irmware, making devices smarter". Operaing systems provide a plaform for programmers to write addiional applicaions so computers can do more producive and useful things. Plaform: allows for the development and integraion of sotware complementary goods. Desktop sotware: applicaions installed on a personal computer (word processor, photo editor, computer games) Enterprise sotware: applicaions that address muliple users at the same ime in a group (inventory management, imesheets, paychecks) Sotware package: a sotware package ofered commercially by a third party.
