The body"s information system is built from billions of interconnected cells called. All-or-none response (like a light switch, not a dimmer switch!: a strong stimuli"s can trigger more neurons to fire, and to fire more often, but it does not affect the action potentials strength or speed. A junction between the axon tip of the sending neuron and the dendrite or cell body of the receiving neuron. This tiny gap is called the synaptic gap or cleft (space between neurons) Chemical messengers that cross the synaptic gaps between neurons. When released by the sending neuron, neurotransmitters travel across the synapses and bind to receptor sites on the receiving neuron, therefore influencing whether neuron will generate a neural impulse.
