Unidirectional would be parents fight and the kids responding negatively. Cross sectional design: a design in which researchers examine people of different ages at the same point in time. Cohort effects: effects due to the fact that sets of people who lived during one time period can differ from sets of people who lived in a different one. Longitudinal design: tracks the development of the same group of people over time. Where participants drop out before the study is complete, since it may take place over decades of time.
