Table 5. 1 illustrates two ways of listing the attributes of the variable religious affiliation. How you define your list of attributes depends on the nature of the group you are studying. If the group is known or expected to be very diverse, then something like list 1 is appropriate. You will see right away that list 1 is quite a bit longer than list 2.
