In simple terms, the individual not only has learned a deviant act but has learned to enjoy it as well. The idea that deviance, like conformity, is learned behavior has added a great deal to our understanding of human behavior. The traditional view of deviance focuses on why and how individuals commit deviant acts. These theories tend to take for granted that some acts are deviant and others are not.
