Proliferation of patriarchal ideals: both parents believed in patriarchy as (cid:862)(cid:374)atural,(cid:863) learned through religion, god created man to rule the world. Women were subordinate, expected to help and obey men. God was male: reinforced by every institution school, courthouse, clubs, sports arenas, church. Author as a daughter: role to serve, be weak and free from burden of thinking, to nurture others.
