Evidence-based practice a process in which practitioners consider the best scientific evidence available pertinent to a particular practice decision as an important part of their decision making. The term is used in many professions. Evidence-based practice isn"t like authority based practice. Think for themselves about what is underpinning things other may think of as wisdom. Need to know how to find credible and relevant research. A career as an evidence-based practitioner is signing up for career long learning. Evidence can indicate what actions not to take. Evidence may point toward an action a client is not in favor of. Evidence-based practice is an approach to practice that is compassion and client centered. Interventions with best evidence may not be best on a client to client basis. Making practice decisions based on the best research evidence available.
