Members share duties and responsibilities taken up at the national level by members of the us congress. Members are responsible for bringing the interests and concerns of their constituencies directly into the democratic political process. Texas legisltuare has 150 house members and 31 senators meet in regular session for 140 days ever odd numbered year. House members serve 2 year terms: each represent a single-member district of 168,000 people for. Bicameralism means before a law is passed, it goes through two bodies of different constituencies. Senator must be a citizen, resident of the state for at least 5 years and district for 1 year, 26 years old. House members must be 21, citizen, 2 year state resident, and 1 year district resident. Not all state legislatures meet for the same time periods. Usually meets every other year unless governor calls to meet.
