Differing colors of stars: hotter = bluer/white, shows the different types of stars. Mass of a star (m+) is most critical factor in determining its difference from other stars: greater mass stronger gravity greater rates of nuclear fusion. Stellar evolution: gravity-driven changes in stars as they are born, age, and run out of fuel. Immense clouds of gas & dust - sites of stellar birth. Gravity may draw gas into dense clumps that collapse to form new stars, heating gas around it until it glows. The most massive stars die first (in titanic explosions) Spray matter outward to mix with the vast clouds of gas - Expanded vision of kinds of objects in existence in space ultimately recycled into new stars. Failed stars - objects that weren"t massive enough to start fusion of hydrogen to helium: bizarre corpses left behind by stars that die.
