Summary: abraham lincoln has always strongly disliked the idea of slavery so he pursued a career in politics and eventually became the president who ended slavery. Format/special features: the front cover of this text shows a beautiful portrait of abraham. Lincoln in front of what looks to be the american flag. Interestingly, the title of the book is on the back cover along with the author and illustrator. Also, throughout the text, there are quotes taken from abraham lincoln himself to help tell his story. Cultural anxieties/cultural values: the setting of this story of course dates back to when. Lincoln was just nine years old which was in 1818. Today, there are not many children"s books about slavery because a lot of people are afraid to talk about what happened and are mostly afraid to expose children to these events.
