As children grow they develop and refine their schemes. Babies: simple actions such as sucking, looking and grasping. Older children: more complex actions and thinking such as classifying objects by colour and counting. Impact of piaget"s theories on practice (research more into this) This theory has had a considerable impact on practice. Methods of research did not allow children to demonstrate their true potential-he used verbal interviews and tasks that did not make sense to the child. Development does not necessarily occur in an "orderly" way through this sequence of stages. Development is continuous rather that happening prescribed stages. Development in human beings is fundamentally different from animals. La(cid:374)guage is the (cid:373)ost i(cid:373)porta(cid:374)t factor i(cid:374) childre(cid:374) s develop(cid:373)e(cid:374)t.
