Document Summary

Note: there was no lecture on 10/3/14 due to the public holiday. The course reader is now available for purchase from the image and copy centre (icc). In your tutorials you sign up for the week in which topic you wish to present. If there are 3 member if your group then you will be presenting from 2 of the set readings and 1 supplementary. During last week"s lecture we looked at: the impact and benefit of turning the lens onto ourselves, empathetically looking at other cultures and societies and looking through the lens of another and the value of doing so. This week"s study included 2 set readings and 2 supplementary readings which were focused on fieldwork which comes under the study of ethnography which will be looking at closer in this lecture. This entails the joining in of other cultures and looking at the particulars and practices if that culture or sub-group.
