What is employee engagement:
No set definition
overlap with more established concepts (e.g. job satisfaction, organisational commitment)
the allocation of personal resources to job performance and the intensity and persistence with which those
resources are applied
High levels correlate with positive outcomes for individuals and organisations
Three facets of engagement:
Intellectual engagement: the propensity to think hard about work tasks.
Affective engagement: experiencing positive emotions in relation to work, such as enthusiasm.
Social engagement: discussing work-related improvements with colleagues
Workplace behaviours associated with high levels of Employee Engagement:
Strive: employees exert extra time, effort and initiative to contribute to the success of the organisation.
Stay: employees have an intense desire to be a member of the organisation.
Say: employees advocate for the organisation to co-workers, and refers potential employees and customers.
