Document Summary

Filtration - once fluid passes from the glomerular capillaries to bowmans capsule, it is termed filtrate, it is the movement of fluid from the blood into bowman"s capsule - lumen of the nephron. Reabsorption - the movement of substances out of the nephron back into the circulation. Secretion - the movement of substances into the nephron from the circulation before excretion. Excretion - the movement of fluid out of the body. The goal of these processes is to fine tune the volume and concentration of urine leaving the body, this is regulated by several factors and varies depending on the circumstances. Processes in relation to where they occurred in the nephron. Reabsorption - occurs in the proximal tubule, loop of henle, distal tubule and collecting duct, some solutes may not be readily or completely filtered but still need to be excreted.
