Document Summary

Hbs204 week 5 the renal system 3. The main function of adh is to conserve and three factors can cause an increase in adh. Effect of adh on the kidney how does adh increase water reabsorption. The vasa recta is also in close proximity to the collecting duct and are important for the reabsorption of water. In the absence of adh the collecting duct epithelium does not have any water channels on their apical surface, the water channel that adh targets is the aquaporin-2 channel. This water is then taken up by the vasa recta and returned to the circulation, as the osmolarity of the blood in the vasa. Recta is quite high this deep in the medulla of the kidney, this water will be taken up by osmosis, this is not an all-or-nothing system. The kidneys, brain, heart and blood vessels play an important role in the regulation of blood pressure.
