CUL121 Lecture 2: cul-screening-response-2
Document Summary
Refugees flee from vicious civil wars around the world and retreat to refugee camps often staying there for many years with minimal shelter and poor supplies. They are often the minorities who have suffered brutal mistreatment by government or majority groups and have to leave their countries out of fear of being killed. The screening tells the stories of two separate families one from burma and the other from sudan. Once the process and papers of the refugees has been processed they have to under go classes on how to navigate life in australia, they then must go into isolation for 5 days prior to making the trip over. The education given in the camps, if any, are very minimal and often make the move from the camps to their new country very daunting and difficult. Once in australia the integration into everyday life can be very difficult because of the cultural difference.
