Axillary nerves hugs surgical neck of humerus arises from c5, c6. Susceptible to injury: in shoulder dislocation; in fracture of surgical neck radial nerve arises from c5, c6, c7, c8, t1. Runs down posteriorly, goes in between medial and lateral head of triceps. Supplies the posterior compartment (extensor muscles) of the arm and forearm. Muscles: extensor muscles of arm & forearm - triceps, posterior forearm muscles. Skin: posterior skin of arm & forearm part of back of hand. Hsf page 14 runs across the shaft of humerus (between med & lat heads of triceps) susceptible to damage in: humeral shaft fracture, compression (saturday night palsy), (cid:858)(cid:449)rist drop(cid:859) If damaged you get "wrist drop" where you can"t extend wrist because forearm nerves not supplied. Dermatomes e. g. musculocutaneous nerve comes from c5, c6. Dermatomes e. g. musculocutaneous nerve comes from c5, c6 e. g. median nerve made of c5, c6, c7. So c7 component of medial nerve provides sensation for area shown in diagram.
