Document Summary

Nucleotides are genetic code for putting together for amino acids, building blocks for genetic code. Amino acids combination determines the way that protein folds and hangs together, influences what protein does/can do in body. Amino acid encoded in dna by triplet of bases called codon. Change one base change the way protein folds another amino acid. When one base changes single nucleotide polymorphism. Insertion-deletion: one person doesn"t have that section of genome while the other does. Block substitution: something different, not just a single nucleotide, chunk of dna that varies between both. Inversion: a bit like block substitution but specific kind on the other strand of that sequence, a section is flipped reverse strand goes back in backwards. Copy number: variable numbers of repeats of same sequence. Xist gene expressed coats and inactivates one x chromosome and turns it into. Tsix gene expressed on other x chromosome suppress transcription of xist on that chromosome so that one x chromosome works.
