66 views2 pages

Document Summary

Cell mediated immunity plays a role in fighting intracellular pathogens such as mycobacterium tuberculosis which lives and multiples inside macrophages. Normally antibodies are involved in neutralising microbes but since it cannot across the cell membranes this pathogen is hidden from the antibody. Which was given to mouseh 2 challenged with a lethal dose and the serum failed to tranfer an specific antibody immunity across as the immune serum and the non immune serum had the same response. While exp 2 involved mouse 1 ingested with sub lethal dose and this time t cells were harvested and given to mouse 2 which was then challenged with listeria monocytogenes. Results showed that t cell transferred did rest in immunity as the immune t cell had a lower number of viable listeria. The mouse is resistant to listeria t cells are protective. How are immune responses to viral antigens initiated. Ctl and th1 both function together to target intracellular pathogens such as virus.
