● To set the direction
○ Need to make this clear
● Decide where you want to go
● Decide the best way to accomplish the task
● Plan = statement of intended means for accomplishing objectives
● Planning: process of setting objectives and determining how to accomplish them
● Objectives: specific results usually expressed in measurable indices that someone
wishes to achieve and may relate to the individual, a group or the whole organisation
Five Step Process of Planning

Operational Plans
● Short Range Plans (less than 1 year)
Tactical Plans
● Intermediate Plans (1-2 year)
Strategic Plans
● Long Range Plans (more than 3 years)

tactical plans
