Document Summary

Part b: lecture 7 sensation and perception. If seeing colours was a conscious inference made by our brain, we would be able to control the colours we see (eg: change the sky pink) This characteristic does not diminish our capabilities: blind spot is proof that the brain can infer your visual space so hence, you do not see everything happening around you like it is. Neon colour spreading: the effect of seeing a white region as two different colours due to the brain taking information from the surrounding coloured region. Binocular rivalry: when you are shown two images in each eye wearing the binoculars, both images will be take turns being displayed in your vision. Visual attention: perceptual experience is selective and we prioritise information, not everything our eyes pi(cid:272)k up are pro(cid:272)essed a(cid:374)d (cid:858)sho(cid:449)(cid:374)(cid:859) to us (cid:271)(cid:455) our (cid:271)rai(cid:374)
