MATH1005 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Simple Random Sample, Css Box Model, Normal Distribution
Document Summary
In sample surveys, there are always chance errors, to which each sample are one unique draw from the population. In this case, we have to calcuate or understand the likely size of the chance error when estimating a proportion using simple random sampling. Each sample would represent each estimate of the population. We can use sampling by a box model, with focusing on one category in proportion to the rest of the data. The proportion of any half-half category is calculated by the mean of the box. This is how it can be entered into code, to which the 1 and the 0 represent the categories. Expected value for the sum of the sample. The ev is calculated by the sum of draws in the number of one particular category in the sample. To find the proportion of the ev in the sample, you need to divide the value from above by the sample size.
