Document Summary

Week 6- know the content and how to teach it/developing observation. Marsh, c. , clarke, m. , & pittaway, s. (2014). Believe intelligence is fixed, probably from birth and there"s very little they can do to improve it (its all in the genes- either you can do it or you cant do it) Those with a fixed mindset often have a desire to prove themselves to others to be seen as smart and avoid looking unintelligent. These students may avoid activities that they perceive as challenging. Students with a long history of success may be the most vulnerable. Intelligence isn"t hand dealt rather a starting point for development. Believe ability and success is due to learning which requires time and effort. Passive: accumulating or memorising information; teaching as telling; transmission. Active: requires the learner to interpret- make sense of- information that is received. Engage: draw them into active involvement, where their ideas become an important part of the learning process.
