As a country increases in wealth it moves from primary to secondary to tertiary economic base.
3 sector division of economic activities
1. Primary (agriculture, mining) - extraction of raw materials
2. Secondary (manufacturing, industry, construction) - value-adding
3. Tertiary (services) - non-tradable as delivered on location
Services = Production and Consumption of intangible inputs and outputs (e.g., education, healthcare,
financial, tourism)
