For the state 19 fully selective high schools, in 2015, the number of places secured by students from chinese language backgrounds was 974 ( of 2000). For the year, students identifying themselves as belonging to arabic speaking backgrounds succeeded in obtaining ve placements in the states 19 fully selective schools. Given that in nsw public schools, students from chinese and arabic backgrounds form the largest proportion of students from language backgrounds other than english. Economic migrants, family background, literacy stronger, academic achievement in their culture stronger.
