Lecture 31 uterine (gynaecological) diseases and disorders. Rst 1-2 days, can be relieved with heat packs or mild medication and it does not prevent you from doing day-to-day activities. Nsaids which block cox enzymes and reduce production of prostaglandins: treatment 1 medical treatment = nsaids, ocp or progestins, 2 surgical treatment = laparoscopy, myomectomy, hysterectomy or uae. Abnormal uterine bleeding (aub: aub occurs when menstrual bleeding falls outside normal parameters (for >6 months, palm-coein = polyps, adenomyosis, leiomyoma (uterine broids), malignancy and hyperplasia, coagulopathy (clotting disorders), ovarian dysfunction, endometrial dysfunctional, Iatrogenic (non-menstrual bleeding or spotting due to hormonal therapies), not classi ed. 930%) and polyps (10%) however majority of women with hmb have no histological abnormality: quality of life problems = ooding", blood stained clothes, anxiety/depression, moodiness/ irritability, interference with social life/hobbies, treatments can be medical or surgical. Medical = hormonal (pill or iud), prostaglandin inhibitors, anti- brinolytic agents (remove small clots), management of anaemia.
