Document Summary
Week 11: communication for event managers- lecture notes. The process of transmitting information from one person or place to another. Perception is the process by which individuals attend to, organise, interpret and retain information from their environments. Attention = the process of noticing or becoming aware of stimuli (such as emails, conversations, rumours, news items etc) Organisation = the process of incorporating new information from these stimuli into your existing knowledge. We prefer to incorporate knowledge that is consistent with what we already know or believe to be true. Interpretation = the process of attaching meaning to this new knowledge. Our existing preferences and beliefs strongly influence the meanings we attach to knowledge. Retention = the process of remembering new information recall and memory. People pay attention to different things, organise and interpret what they see and hear differently, and remember things differently.
