Document Summary

Il-5 - il-13: th2 cytokines stimulate - production of ige by b cells - eosinophil, and mast cell responses promote igm, iga and ige production. Cd4 t helper 17 cells: early in adaptive immune responses, stimulated by environmental: [il-4 & il-12 have to be absent] cd4 t helper 17 cells - [il-4 & il-12 have to be absent] Macrophage and dc produced il-23 maintains il-17 producing t cells: attack extracellular bacteria and fungi. By stimulating neutrophils: main secreted cytokines: il-17. Tfh cells: provide help to b cells for high affinity antibody production in lymphoid follicles and germinal centres, secrete cytokines characteristic of either th1 or th2, requirements for differentiation unclear. Tgf(cid:533: express high levels of cd25 (il-2 receptor) indicative of mature t cell. Dc maturation: ctla4 binding to cd80/cd86 mediates the induction of the immunosuppressive molecule, ido (indoleamine 2,3- dioxygenase), which is made by dcs. Suppressing organ and tissue rejection: elimination of suppressive t cells.
