Evidence of oldest land plant fossils found to date. ] Contain chloroplasts w/ well-developed green granules, asymmetrical motile cells w/ flagella extending from side, during cell cycle: exhibit breakdown of nuclear envelope at mitosis + persistent spindles/phragmoplasts during cytokinesis. Coleochaete zygotes in parental thallus, cells covering zygotes develop wall ingrowths similar to gametophyte-sporophyte junction of bryophytes.
