Focus on population (large groups of people) as opposed to individuals (kids with exceptionalities) The mismatch between research and policy in child development. The social and economic under which people live that determine their health. Social / economic standing of an individual or group. Less income = smaller house = community with smaller houses = less disposal income = less community activities (sports ect. ) = lower ses community == risk factor for ecd. A strong and consistent association between socioeconomic status and a variety of development and health outcomes throughout the life-course. Big gape between high ses families and low ses families, continues to grow. Need more education to get the same jobs in past years. Graphs related to the gradient effect and ses. Look at what is needed to become a healthy adult. The gradient effect and well being of children. Children hanging around with kids who frequently get into trouble.
