We diagnose children categorically but we should think about psychology and behaviour as a continuum. A focus on what happens when young people come in contact with others in their environment . Those factors that help (protective) or hinder (risk) healthy development. Minimize risk factors (lower ses communities, better teachers) Multifinality an experience may function differently depending on a host of other influences that may lead to different outcomes.
