Different visual perspectives generate different sets of data about the same phenomena. Conceptual perspective - set of ideas and beliefs and values that inform your understanding of the world: can develop unconsciously. The way we link these beliefs together, can reach every part of a researching program. If something is important to you, you"re going to want to research that over something else. Your perspective can effect the way you input/receive that data. Interpretivism * textbook, chapter 3: critical *textbook, chapter 3. Value-free: personal opinions of the researcher shouldn"t affect the outcome of the research. (ideal) It"s hard to suggest that (cid:374)o o(cid:374)e (cid:272)a(cid:374) separate their perso(cid:374)al values fro(cid:373) research. Case against value-free research: we use language to describe and comprehend the world, these symbols bear no direct relationship to the world. Language is composed of symbols (i. e. , letters, numbers, figures) many people.
