Today"s lecture: freire gives us a conceptual foundation in critical pedagogy, dewey and freire: 2 major thinkers of education today, darder looks more specifically at education and the classroom. What does pedagogy" mean: greek: to lead the child , dictionary definition: the art, science, or profession of teaching . Pedagogy of the oppressed: his most famous book, sold almost a million copies, the focus of this book is how education can change their relationship between the oppressor and the oppressed. His focus is to look at how this relationship is manifested in educated: advocated for a new relationship between the teacher, student, and society. It"s easy for a teacher to overlook the political aspect of education when only focused on one student, or a class. Usually teachers don"t talk about politics: education is always political.
