Education is the process by which we are formed as human beings, by which a society preserves itself, and by which a society transforms itself. Furthermore, education is one of the most important and potentially effective ways we can fight oppression, injustice and inequality in our society by promoting equity and social justice. In this course we will explore key ideas regarding the aims, challenges, and limits of education. There are many contemporary and historical educational thinkers who can help guide us as we reflect on these questions. The most practical tool educators can ever have is a good theory.
