Public panic, very new disease, when all our readings were coming out. 2003: named top 5 tony award winning plays of all time & adapted to film for. Trying to deal with the ravages of aids tearing gay communities apart. Wanted to make sense of the pain and devastation around him. At the time in africa: aids wiping out entire populations and villages. People talked about it as a way of getting rid of an unwanted population, and quoted it as darwinism. Personal : part of being openly gay and part of communities strongly. What does it mean to live at this time? connected. In the afterward about kimberly :protects herself less, and sees more. Which characters choose to cloak themselves, and which face what is going on in the world head on. Try to see connections where others would not. Cosmopolitan couple vs morman couple the stories begin to connect in ways and intertwine.
