He was one of the founders/members but wasn"t really a realist. Problem because main religion was protestant henry the 6th wanted a divorce so he created protestants. Catholic preiests couldn"t wear their robes in the streets, or teach in state schools. His first sets of paintings were religious. Ecce ancilla domini- christina being told she will give birth. About a dead lover and she is an angel in heaven. 3 lillies in her hand shes good and pure. 11- all victorian women in literature were blonde. He got in trouble for some of the verses in this poem. Being warm, was wrong in this time period. Shes surrounded by lovers and shes warm no sense. Shoulders and neck were always covered so for victorian men it was an erotic zone. She had red hair she"s passionate and unchaste and wild. Poem: called a which, shes seducing men, rose and poppy: rose-love and passion.
