Very useful for correlating oil wells off brazil. Chronozone: a formal chronostratigraphic unit of unspecified rank (not part of the hierarchy of eonothem, erathem, system etc. ). It is is a body of rocks formed anywhere in the world during the time span of some designated stratigraphic unit or geological feature. E. g. a fossil range (biochron) or a magnetic polarity interval (magnetochron). Exus albus chronozone includes all strata, everywhere, of the same age as that represented by the total vertical range of exus albus, regardless of whether this fossil occurs in the rocks or not. Lo/ho = lowest/highest occurrence: relates to record in a particular section. Ho = extinction eventor local disappearance due to ecological exclusion. Defines biochron which is a type of chron and refers to the maximum duration of time represented by a biozone. Taxa appear in time, but occur in the rock record.
