Lothar von trotha becomes new military leader of conquest. August 1904 he wins a decisive battle. Sept 13 1904 he gives orders to drive off any women or children looking for water. Sept 23 1904 he rejects suggestions for negotiation. 1905-06 labour camps start up to exterminate remaining herero people. Not the first concentration camps, used by united states, spain, britain, and others. Eugen fischer - eugenicist searching for things to prove that europeans were biologically superior. Germany holds onto namibia until 1915, league of nations gives it to south africa (britain) Namibia did not achieve independence until 1990. August bebel - represents socialist democratic party, openly condemned. More than 500 000 votes in next election, popularity increases. Belief existed that colonization was for the good of everyone, culturally and economically.
