Lots of literature on the start of the viking age- how/when/where/why at the end there is virtually nothing on the end of the viking age (hall book a good source- fades out approx. 1066: brink and n. price the viking world (2008)- described as comprehensive guide on vikings (big book)- supposed to relect current scholarship but scholarship doesn"t have much to say about it. Beginning of the viking age is characterized for most scholars by advent of viking raiding.
