Cultural boundaries are often the same as national boundaries. Nation & culture are not the same. Imagined: artificial, created union which presupposes a connection of engaging all citizens. Limited: defined boundaries laid out through legislation and/or conflict with neighbors. Sovereign: responsible only to its own citizens depending & protecting their own interests. Community: imagined as fraternity; on equality that validates one"s belonging as peer. We try to perceive a nation as being culturally coherent but sometimes it can"t be because of size.
