It is a continuous acoustic signal where words begin and end, it"s an open question- difficult to identify words begin and end is- listen to a foreign language: writing systems are relatively new. We can"t rely on the writing system to tell us where the words begin and end. If it can stand alone, and it can move. It isn"t required to stay in a particular spot. It isn"t confined to its position in the sentence.
