Where do they work: noise exposure and how much impact. Just hearing related or the entire ear: do people tell you they have to repeat themselves or being asked to repeat yourself. How well they are hearing speech in a normal environment. Speech and language development: speech path sent them. At home vs outside of home: recognizing male vs female voice. Any previous hearing screening or testing results: ie. Physical observation: general observation of outer ear (otoscope, actually looking in the ear, tympanic membrane. Pure tone testing (air and bone: looking at the tones. Screening: preliminary step is further evaluation needed, quick, cost effective, just an audiometer, in depth assessment to determine nature/ degree of loss and treatment. Implemented in 2002: up to 4 months of age. Screening 1: dpoae if they pass it, they don"t need to do a second screening. Before they are released from the hospital. Referring; they get sent out to the community.
