Use of audition as foundation of spoken language (always do everything through sound first and we provide visual cue if they need it but pull it away::: key difference between auditory verbal and auditory oral) Parents as partners (in auditory verbal, we see kids independently but parent must always be present and participating. Good acoustic environments: add carpet to room with lots of reverberation. Follows typical developmental patterns (theres early identification so hl kids shouldn"t be very far behind) On going evaluation (every session is basically an evaluation session) Inclusion (big difference: auditory verbal-kids go to schools with normal hearing kids whereas in auditory oral: they are segregated with other kids with hl) Commitment of parent to carry over the therapy to home and teach other people involved in the childs life.
