Now that we have an idea about the goal of hypothesis testing, we can now try them. Goal of hypothesis testing: to be able to test a claim about a parameter using sample data. Two very important notes: the number of steps for hypothesis testing usually varies from person to person. Our steps will be slightl(cid:455) different than the te(cid:454)t(cid:271)ook"s steps: no matter what parameter we are measuring, the steps will always be the same. The only things that change are the parameters (and thus, the test statistic and critical value). We will go into detail about each of these steps for each specific parameter we are measuring.
