Growth Rate
- Episodic growth: growth is not completely continuous, it comes in short episodes
- Seasonal growth: some seasons allow us to grow more (esp. summer)

- Ratio standards = strength/kg
- Dimensionality = strength/ht^2
- Allometric = strength = a*mass^k

- Head increases x2
- Trunk increase x3

o Endomorphy: roundness, adiposity
o Mesomorphy: muscle

Bone Tissue and Skeletal Growth
Bone cells
- Osteoblast – bone formation
- Osteoclast – bone resorption
- Osteocyte – regulation of flow of minerals and nutrients
- Osteogenic cell
Growth + Remodeling
- Infancy – 50% annually
- Adulthood – 5% annually
Youth: formation > resorption
Adult: formation = resorption
Old: formation < resorption
