Persistent restriction of energy intake leading to significantly low body weight (based on age, sex, development trajectory, and physical health) Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat, or persistent behaviours that interferes with weight gain: even though they have a significantly low weight. Body image disturbance (at least one of the following: disturbance in the way one"s body weight or shape is experienced. Truly see themselves as overweight; a very distorted perception of their own self: excessive influence of shape and weight on self-evaluation, persistent lack of recognition of the seriousness of the current low body weight. Recurrent inappropriate compensatory behaviour to prevent weight gain: vomiting, laxative/diuretics/medications, fasting, or excessive exercise.
